David was born in Edinburgh in 1969. He studied English and Drama at Bristol University where he began his playwriting career. In 1990 he co-founded Suspect Culture with Graham Eatough. His plays include Pyrenees, The Architect, The Speculator, The Cosmonaut’s Last Message, Victoria, Outlying Islands and San Diego. His work for Suspect Culture includes: One Way Street, Airport, Timeless, Mainstream, Casanova and 8000M. David’s translation of Caligula was produced at the Donmar Warehouse in an award winning production in 2003. He has also written amodern version of Oedipus. His works for children and young people include: Danny 306, Me Forever and Dr Korczak’s Example. He edited and wrote the introduction to a series of essays by Scottish writers Lovesongs to the Auld Enemy. He is dramaturg for the National Theatre of Scotland.
